The 2020 Infiniti QX50 offers more horsepower at a lower price

The QX50 features a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. This engine is the first production of its kind to offer variable compression technology. It pairs with a continuously variable transmission. Also standard is manual shift mode and a dual automatic transmission cooler.

This is an improvement compared to the eight-speed automatic transmission available on the X3. The QX50’s fuel economy rating is 10.8/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway), which is stunning considering the available horsepower. 

The X3 xDrive30i includes a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is considerably less than the QX50’s engine. This also comes at a higher starting MSRP. Even if you were expecting a more efficient engine because of less horsepower, there really isn’t much of a tradeoff. You’ll only gain .1 L/100 km of efficiency in city driving versus the QX50. 

The X3 also offers an “M’ series version with a turbocharged six-cylinder that produces 382 horsepower. However, you will enter into a significantly higher starting MSRP that is well ahead of the QX50’s highest trim levels. And don’t expect to gain any advantages at the pump with an efficiency rating of 11.3 / 8.7 L/100 km (city/highway).

The 2020 Infiniti QX50 also has the utility you need

The QX50 offers what many crossover owners rate highly on their wish lists - cargo capacity. With 1,821 litres of total capacity behind the front seats, it exceeds what the X3 offers. You will also have 82 more litres of capacity behind the rear seats. When you load up the family and go, it’s important to have as much extra space as possible. The QX50 also offers more rear leg room than the X3.

The Infiniti offers a full suite of safety technologies and convenience features. However, it also includes standard amenities not offered with the X3, or offered at a cost, these include a remote engine start, rear air conditioning a CD player and a safety-enhancing 360-degree camera.
