2021 Infiniti QX50 vs. 2021 Acura RDX: More for less in the Infiniti

2021 Infiniti QX50 vs. 2021 Acura RDX: More for less in the Infiniti

The 2021 Infiniti QX50 and the 2021 Acura RDX are fighting a hot battle in the compact SUV segment. There are several options in the segment, but the Infiniti and Acura are the most comparable in terms of performance, equipment, handling and personality. These two rivals are destined to compete for a long time.

That said, when you compare what the QX50 offers compared to the RDX, you realize that the Infiniti has the advantage in terms of value offered, but also in terms of cargo space and technology. Let's take a closer look.

More advanced technologies in the 2021 Infiniti QX50

The 2021 Infiniti QX50 offers more advanced comfort and safety technologies than the 2021 Acura RDX.

It all starts with ProPILOT Assist, a semi-autonomous driver assistance system that takes care of steering and acceleration for the driver as long as the driver has their hands on the wheel. The system follows the lines of the road and can slow down for other vehicles, essentially allowing you to relax while ProPILOT Assist takes care of the driving. You will feel the steering wheel turning under your hands, which is quite impressive. Nothing like this exists in the 2021 Acura RDX, nor in the majority of other QX50 rivals, for that matter.

The 2021 Infiniti QX50 is also the only one in its segment to offer a predictive collision warning system, which means that the QX50 can not only detect a sudden stop of the vehicle ahead, but also of the vehicle ahead of the one in front of you. The 2021 Acura RDX is limited to monitoring the vehicle ahead only, which means its emergency braking reactions are slower than the QX50.

Both luxury SUVs offer a blind spot monitoring system, but only the QX50 will intervene to avoid a lane change if another vehicle is in the lane.

Note also that the Infiniti QX50 Luxe offers the heated steering wheel while its equivalent in the Acura RDX range, the Tech model, does not have this option.

Having more features is one thing, but having it all for less is even better. The QX50 Luxe is offered at $ 651 per month* compared to $ 682 per month* for the Acura RDX Tech on equal terms. This is a significant difference when you consider the difference in equipment, especially since the 2021 Infiniti QX50 is more fuel efficient and roomier in the trunk.
