2022 Infiniti QX55 vs. 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback: Unforgettable Design and a New Driving Experience

The all-new QX55 is a different breed of luxury crossover, and it isn't just for anyone. With a crossover coupe design for the future, refined features, and power and handling to match, the QX55 is ready to disrupt the segment and change your driving experience.

We receive many questions on how it compares to the competition. To help answer, we compare it to the Audi Q5 Sportback.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 has power and efficiency advantages

The QX55 begins by edging out the Audi Q5 Sportback in standard power. The QX55's 2.0L turbocharged engine produces 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, which is an improvement over the Q5's 2.0 turbo with 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Thanks to a unique variable compression engine, the QX55's engine boost doesn't make much of a sacrifice in fuel consumption. The QX55 rates at 8.3 L/100 km on the highway, which is the same as the Q5 Sportback. The continuously variable transmission selects the most optimal gear ratio no matter how the QX55 accelerates, contributing to efficient operation. The Q5 Sportback's automatic transmission can work less efficiently and increase its listed fuel burn, especially during spirited driving.

Although the SQ5 Sportback includes the most power and performance in this comparison, there are sacrifices. The SQ5's starting MSRP is thousands of dollars more than the QX55's top grade and over $12,000 more than the base model. You can also expect higher operational costs with the larger engine.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 takes the lead in style

The widely anticipated QX55 also has a more obvious advantage—it looks much better than the Q5. Infiniti engineers crafted the vehicle to be remarkable and memorable. The Q5 reveals more conservative styling that may fit better with a hatchback and not crossover coupe classification.

However, the QX55 is not all show. Inside, front seat passengers have a shoulder room advantage, and the vehicle's design opens up the rear seats with more shoulder and leg room. Cargo room behind the rear seats adds up to 762 litres, which virtually matches the Q5 Sportback's result.

Overall, the QX55's entry into the crossover coupe segment is very impressive.
