How does the Infiniti QX60 stack up against the Audi Q7?

The mid-size luxury SUV segment is one where competition is fierce across the industry. Manufacturers want to make sure they attract consumers with attractive products and they go to great lengths to offer them cutting-edge models.

That's the case with Audi, which has been offering the Q7 for years, an accomplished SUV that pleases everyone who gets behind the wheel. But it's also the case at Infiniti, which has been offering a brand new version of its QX60 since last year. Here too, those who discover it leave in awe; the model is impressive in every way.

How impressive? In fact, it has everything it takes to stand out from its German rival.

The price

Let's start with what's obvious when analyzing the two models: the price. Infiniti offers different versions, but the prices are still reasonable for a vehicle of this quality. The offer starts at about $55,000 and ends at just over $70,000. At Audi, the entry-level Q7 costs more than the most equipped QX60 variant.

Compare as much as you want, it's clear that Infiniti has the edge when it comes to value for money.

Cargo space

Another of the advantages that becomes obvious when you take a closer look at the models is the cargo space. With the Q7, the maximum capacity is 1,970 liters once you fold down all the seats behind the first row. On the Infiniti side, the QX60 offers a much more generous space at 2135 liters. That also translates into more space and more comfort for the occupants.

Power and drive

Audi offers versions with more powerful powertrains. We'd give it the edge, but the more powerful models are out of line with the QX60. If we compare the entry-level versions, we realize that the engine offered with the QX60 is more powerful than the one offered by Audi, which limits the displacement to 4-cylinder with its entry-level Q7. The latter offers 261 horsepower. With the QX60, you get a 3.5-litre V6 that produces 295 horsepower.

Then, on the road, this is perhaps the most pleasant surprise. With the previous generation QX60, it would have been difficult to compare the driving experience with an Audi product. There was still work to be done. It has been done, however, and today, the Infiniti SUV's driving experience is second to none, including the Audi Q7.

Try it and see. In fact, we're waiting for you to take it for a test drive; you have to get behind the wheel of a QX60 to understand how extraordinary the work done with this vehicle has been.
