The Infiniti QX50 is a pioneer in its segment. It includes any new technologies that set the benchmark in the segment, but also in the automotive industry globally. It features a bold exterior design, a refined interior concept that uses unique blends of textures and materials, and many standard features that make your day-to-day driving easier and more enjoyable.
Here, we compare the Infiniti 2021 QX50 to the 2021 Lexus NX.
More power and engineering in the 2021 Infiniti QX50
Under the hood of the QX50, you will find a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. But this powerplant is far more advanced than any other engine of its kind. It is the first variable compression engine in the world to be installed in a production vehicle, making the QX50 a truly unique SUV. The output is rated at 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it only uses 10,0 L/100 km in the city and 8,3 L/100 km on the highway thanks to its groundbreaking engineering features.
The Lexus NX’s base engine in the NX300 variant is also a four-cylinder 2.0-litre unit. But this one can only output 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Also, it is less efficient than the QX50’s VC-T unit.
The Lexus NX offers a hybrid variant, but the power output drops to a shameful 194 hp and the price goes up quite steeply.
Finally, the QX50 uses a state-of-the-art continuously variable transmission (CVT). The NX’s base engine uses an old fashion 6-speed automatic, making the drive and dynamics much less precise. If you need to tow, the QX50 can haul up to 3,000 lb. The Lexus NX’s capacity is limited to only 2,000 lb (1,500 with the hybrid).
More space and tech inside the 2021 Infiniti QX50
Inside, the Infiniti QX50 focuses on style, space and technologies to provide drivers and passengers the ultimate experience in a luxury SUV. Drivers will enjoy a total of 1,822 litres of cargo space behind the front seats to transport anything they need. When the QX50 is full of passengers, it can haul up to 895 litres of luggage, groceries, etc. The Lexus NX only offers 1,546 litres of total cargo space, with only 500 litres behind the rear seats.
