Infiniti QX50 vs. Mazda CX-5: Award-winning quality at an amazing price

Infiniti QX50 vs. Mazda CX-5: Award-winning quality at an amazing price

The award-winning QX50 is a popular compact luxury crossover. Recognized in Canada for its reliable engine, innovative powertrain and top interior, it also focuses on value—which is rare among luxury vehicles. This not only places the QX50 in a price competition with crossovers in other segments, but makes the purchase of an Infiniti much easier.

To illustrate how the QX50's amenities and price make it easy to purchase, we compare it to the Mazda CX-5.

The Infiniti QX50 has the right price

One of the most intriguing similarities between the Infiniti QX50 and Mazda CX-5 is price. The QX50 offers top power, AWD, and luxurious amenities that start at $44,998. As a matter of fact, several CX-5 grade levels start near or even higher than QX50's starting MSRP, and you still won't reach the performance or luxury the QX50 offers.

The QX50 has a powerful engine standard in all models--a turbocharged 2.0-litre that produces 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a continuously variable transmission, the powertrain operates efficiently to earn a fuel consumption rating of 10.8 L/100 km and 8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).

The CX-5 offers two engines. A 2.5-litre four-cylinder that generates 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque is standard on the GS, GX, GT, and Kuro. A turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder that produces 225 horsepower is standard on the 100th Anniversary Edition and Signature models, and the engine is available on the GT only as an option. However, the higher grades are within the price range of a QX50, and you get more with the Infiniti.

Overall, the QX50's horsepower and drivetrain equipment are more advanced than the CX-5.

The Infiniti QX50 is more versatile

The QX50 offers more cargo capacity and individual comfort compared to the CX-5. Despite its designation as a compact luxury crossover, the QX50 offers up to 1,821 litres of cargo volume behind the front seats. The CX-5 is limited to 1,688 litres. The Infiniti's foldable seats and capacity provide you more flexibility to mix passengers and your lifestyle.

Although both vehicles have similar passenger dimensions, the QX50 offers more front and rear shoulder room and front headroom.

The Infiniti offers much more luxury than the CX-5 at a better price and value. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
