When Considering Pre-Owned Luxury, Consider INFINITI

When Considering Pre-Owned Luxury, Consider INFINITI

When it comes time to reward yourself and your family with a slice of luxury at the wheel of a pre-owned luxury car or SUV, INFINITI is more than ready to oblige with a fantastic cross-section of vehicles well suited to any lifestyle or taste.

And speaking of “taste”: here’s a taste of what INFINITI has to offer, in three doses.

INFINITI Q60

While the Q50 sedan continues to march forward into 2023 and beyond, its two-door twin is no longer part of the line-up. Luckily, the pre-owned market presents a fantastic opportunity to step into one of these long-hooded, svelte coupes. Since 2014, a variety of engines have been offered including a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder good for 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, as well as a 3.7L naturally aspirated V6 with 330 hp and 270 lb-ft. More recently, we’ve seen turbocharged V6 models good for 300 hp as well as the high-performance Red Sport models that push the envelope to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft.

No matter which version you choose, expect gorgeous grand-touring styling with a variety of wheel choices, a six-speed manual transmission (though a 7-speed automatic was much more common) and interiors finished in the finest materials, befitting of a luxury sportster.

INFINITI QX50

The compact luxury crossover market is a white hot one, and INFINITI has always had a strong entrant with the QX50, especially in the years since 2019 when the latest version was released. For power, it made use of a new four-cylinder engine dubbed “VC-Turbo”, shorthand for “Variable Compression Turbo” that uses a little technological trickery to achieve the fuel economy of a diesel, but the performance of a traditional turbocharger. The result is 268 hp and 280 lb-ft, channeled to all four wheels via a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) for smooth, efficient progress. AWD is standard, but the rear wheels are active only when called upon; otherwise, power was sent only to the front wheels for a more efficient drive.

In addition to the VC-Turbo, 2019 saw the arrival of variable steer-by-wire steering that didn’t use a traditional steering column, but a set of actuators that transmitted a driver’s steering inputs to the front wheels. This allowed for adjustable steering either automatically or through driver intervention, and eliminated uncomfortable road vibrations through the wheel.

INFINITI QX80

With the QX80, we go from unibody vehicles to a body-on-frame SUV that shares many of its underpinnings with both the Nissan Patrol/Armada full-size SUV as well as the Titan pickup. We mention these more utilitarian vehicles in the same breath as a luxury cruiser because it shows just how durable and reliable the QX80 is. After all; if various government agencies can use a Patrol for years in the deserts of Africa, then families should have little trouble making it to the ski hill for many years to come.

To help along with the journey is a naturally-aspirated V8, as well as a 4 x 4 system with two-speed transfer case. Don’t let all that off-road tech fool you, however; the QX80 remains a well-equipped full-size SUV with standard leather seating, optional rear seat entertainment system and in recent years, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
